Trauma-Informed Therapist (Adolescent Survivors)
Position Overview
The Trauma-Informed Therapist provides outpatient behavioral health services to adolescent survivors of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. Services may be delivered in person in the Colorado Springs area and via secure telehealth platforms within the state of Colorado. This role is integral to TCC's clinical services by conducting trauma-informed assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and delivering trauma-informed psychotherapy and interventions appropriate for adolescents. Therapists in this role also support care coordination to ensure continuity of services and access to medically and socially necessary resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct trauma-informed biopsychosocial assessments and screenings focused on adolescent survivors of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on client goals, developmental stage, cultural context, and stage of healing
- Review and update treatment plans collaboratively with clients and, when appropriate, their families or guardians
- Deliver individualized, trauma-informed psychotherapy using evidence-based modalities appropriate for adolescents (e.g., TF-CBT, DBT, EMDR, play therapy, sandtray therapy, art therapy)
- Facilitate psychoeducational or therapeutic groups as programming develops
- Provide psychoeducation and skill-building for adolescents and, when clinically appropriate, their families
- Assess risk of harm to self or others and respond appropriately to adolescent mental health crises
- Provide crisis counseling, crisis intervention, and collaborative safety planning
- Coordinate with TCC staff, guardians, and community providers during periods of acute client need
- Work collaboratively with TCC staff, guardians, and external providers to ensure a whole-person approach to adolescent care
- Coordinate with psychiatrists, medical providers, educational resources, housing services, and legal advocates (with appropriate client consent)
- Facilitate referrals, service transitions, and access to supportive resources
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation including intakes, assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, crisis documentation, and discharge summaries
- Adhere to all applicable mandatory reporting laws, professional ethical standards, and organizational safety protocols
- Participate in clinical consultation and supervision as required
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices for adolescent survivors
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Active, unrestricted Colorado license (LPC, LMFT, or LCSW)
- Demonstrated experience working with adolescent survivors of trauma, abuse, or trafficking
- Strong trauma-informed clinical competency and ability to assess complex adolescent mental health presentations
- Demonstrates independent clinical judgment while collaborating effectively with the counseling team and other support professionals
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
- Reliable transportation (for in-person services as needed)
- Secure internet connection and confidential workspace for telehealth sessions
- Ability to pass background checks and speak, read, and write English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, guardians, schools, or justice-system partners
- Specialized training in adolescent trauma-focused modalities such as TF-CBT, DBT, EMDR, play therapy, sandtray therapy, or art therapy
- Experience providing adolescent group therapy
- Fluency in Spanish
