Licensed Trauma-Informed Counselor
Position Overview
The Licensed Trauma-Informed Counselor provides outpatient behavioral health services to adult survivors of sex trafficking, sexual exploitation, and individuals at high risk of being trafficked. Services may be delivered in person in the Colorado Springs area and via secure telehealth platforms within the state of Colorado. This role is integral to TCC's clinical services by conducting trauma-informed assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and delivering individualized, trauma-informed psychotherapy using evidence-based modalities tailored to each client's needs and stage of healing. In addition to psychotherapy, this role includes clinically appropriate care coordination activities that support treatment engagement, crisis response, continuity of care, and access to medically and socially necessary services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct trauma-informed biopsychosocial assessments and screenings related to trauma, abuse, mental health conditions, and trafficking indicators
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on client goals, cultural context, and stage of healing
- Review and update treatment plans collaboratively with clients as progress and needs evolve
- Deliver individualized, trauma-informed psychotherapy using evidence-based modalities appropriate to the client's presentation and treatment goals (e.g., TF-CBT, DBT, EMDR)
- Facilitate psychoeducational or process-oriented group therapy sessions as programming develops
- Provide psychoeducation to clients and families when clinically appropriate
- Assess risk of harm to self or others and respond appropriately to mental health crises
- Provide crisis counseling, crisis intervention, and collaborative safety planning
- Coordinate with TCC staff and external providers during periods of acute client need
- Work closely with the Case Manager and other TCC staff to ensure a coordinated, whole-person approach to client care
- Liaise with external providers, including psychiatrists, primary care physicians, and community mental health agencies, to support integrated care
- Facilitate referrals, service transitions, and resource access to support recovery and stability
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical records in accordance with HIPAA, Colorado state regulations, and professional ethical standards
- Participate in regular clinical supervision and case consultation
- Engage in ongoing professional development, including training in emerging trauma-informed and evidence-based practices
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Active, unrestricted Colorado license (LPC, LPCC, LMFT, or LCSW)
- Strong trauma-informed clinical competency and ability to work autonomously
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
- Experience with trauma, abuse, or trafficking survivors
- Reliable transportation, internet access for telehealth, and private confidential workspace
- Ability to pass background checks and speak, read, and write English
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years of post-licensure clinical experience
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary or justice-system partners
- Specialized training in trauma-focused modalities (e.g., EMDR, TF-CBT, DBT)
- Experience providing group therapy
- Fluency in Spanish
